The home is an ever-changing typology: from nuclear family unit to cohabiting living ideologies, it is constantly evolving. With this installation, we seek to question the domestic estting of the family dynamic, using architecture and subtle interventions as our methods of choice.Read more +
Taking the phrase “The home is where the heart is” as the starting point for our work, we propose a striking faced form, altered from a traditional rectilinear space, filled with re-cast domestic objects as the items that make this space a ‘home’. By scaling, twisting, multiplying and stretching household items within the form, it reveals a simulacra at play, an imagined version of reality.
To further distort from our reality, light is removed, and replaced with a black light, revealing the traces of people who have traversed the space and interacted with the objects at play. This contributes to the creation of community within the space, revealing physical interaction within our ever-increasingly digital-centric world.
This proposal was shortlisted and selected for the Grand Union Open Call 2017 submission for a show with local artists, more information coming soon.
